Charity is one of the noblest works. There are many poor people who can’t afford even the basic necessities of life, and on the other hand there are many who have enough money even after acquiring an affluent and luxurious lifestyle. If these rich or even the moderately well-off can donate for education of the poor and the underprivileged, it will immensely help in bringing about a change in the society and the literacy levels. If we didn’t have charities and philanthropists who volunteer and donate for education and other causes, we wouldn’t have been able to function properly as a society. The inequality would have been way more.

Those who are well-off must try to give something to the society and what better than to donate for education for the underprivileged children who otherwise don’t get an opportunity to gain education. It also makes people appreciate what they have and by helping others financially or through other means, they also receive a feel-good factor in their mind, as it makes them feel capable and loved.

The world today needs more of charity and donations than ever before. With industrialization and capitalist culture, the inequality has been on a rise and there is a widening gap between the rich and the poor.

Donating for education reduces inequality in two ways- firstly it enables a transfer of money from the wealthier to the lesser privileged, and two education provides opportunity for the poor children to come out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Also, with the technological advancements and cut-throat competition, the importance of quality education is much more than what was a generation back. Now-a-days, people need to be well-versed with technology and basic skills and etiquettes. Hence, the importance of education can never be overstated.

Especially in countries like India where there is glaring inequality and widespread poverty, it is important for the people to volunteer and donate for education of the children whose families cannot afford to get them educated due to financial or other constraints.

The government has taken certain steps like the Right to Education (RTE) Act 2010. Along with increasing enrollment and awareness towards education, it also aims to increase job-readiness and skill development through practical education and vocational training.

With mandatory CSR rule being drafted by the law, the corporates have also taken steps in this direction and they continue to donate for education and other social causes. Various NGOs have also aided in this cause as they strive to achieve the goal of universal literacy and education for all.

However, these organizations often face monetary problems as most of them are non-profit in nature. This affects their ability to achieve their goals. Hence it becomes all-the-more important that we help these NGOs and other organizations, especially private non-profit ones, and do our part by engaging in charity and donate for education and other social causes.
